Second Region

Provides for the terms of entry and stay of aliens into Slovakia as well as the necessary documents. It applies to everyone who is not a citizen of Slovakia with the exception of foreigners who have applied for refugee status or who have refugee status. Temporary visas may be granted for business activities, employment, studies, activity according to special programs, or family reunification (Art. 18). Art. 20 regulates the temporary employment of aliens which is not to exceed 180 days, but which may be renewed if the work is not completed (Art. 27(1)). EU citizens receive special treatment with respect to entry for employment purposes (Arts. 31-33). The police section may grant the first permanent residence permit to an alien whose previous continuous temporary stay for the purpose of business activity or employment lasts more than ten years (Art. 35). Part Six deals with expulsion of foreigners from the country. Costs related to expulsion are to be paid by the alien or by their employer or the entity that organised the employment if this was done illegally (Art. 60).
