| Abstract/Citation: | This Decree establishes the Agency for Coordination and Control in Generating Social Welfare for Persons with Disabilities (LKP2KS) in order to replace the Team Coordinating Social Welfare Efforts Persons with Disabilities (Tim Koordinasi Usaha Kesejahteraan Sosial Penyandang Cacat) established under Presidential Decree No. 39 of 1983. The primary role for the management of this Agency is the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kementerian Sosial Republik Indonesia). Other Ministries, (in particular the Ministry of Manpower) as well as the Employers' organization, the Indonesian Association of Disabled Persons (Persatuan Penyandang Cacat Indonesia (PPCI)) are members of the Agency. The Agency's role is to: - formulate and implement policy and coordinate program efforts to improve the social welfare of persons with disabilities; - conduct research, assess, monitor, evaluate, and control public policy and program efforts to improve the social welfare of persons with disabilities; - implement collaboration with international agencies or bodies; - reception, research, and study recommendations and considerations. It also establishes a Directorate for Persons with Disabilities within the Ministry of Social Affairs. Implements articles 70-73 of Government Regulation No. 43/1998 concerning efforts to improve social welfare for persons with disabilities. It is based on Law No. 6 of 1974 on Basic Provisions of the Social Welfare (repealed by Social Welfare Law (No. 11/2009)) as well as Law No. 22 Year 1999 on Regional Government. |
