Abstract/Citation: Increases the minimum basic award applicable to calculation of the special award. The minimum basic award is relevant to dismissals which are to be regarded as unfair under the Employment Protection (Consolidation) Act 1978 (LS 1984 - UK 1A). The increase in the minimum basic award also affects the minimum amount of compensation that shall be awarded by the Employment Appeal Tribunal in respect of a complaint under section 4 of the Employment Act 1988 (unjustifiable discipline by a trade union); LS 1988 - UK 1).
