Abstract/Citation: The purpose of this Ordinance is to control, regulate and supervise all matters related to nuclear safety and radiation protection measures. The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission shall be responsible for carrying out the provisions of this Ordinance. The Commission shall also issue licences authorizing the carrying out of any of the activities outlined in the text including: the manufacture, construction of nuclear installations; the exploration, mining, extraction, sale, import, export, etc. of nuclear substances; the discharge of radioactive waste; and the manufacture, sale etc. of food treated by ionizing radiation. Offences and penalties are also given in the Regulations.
