Makes provision for system for compulsory care and rehabilitation of persons who have intellectual disability and who have been charged with, or convicted of, offence. Divided into 11 parts. Part 1 (s. 2-10) contains preliminary provisions. Part 2 (s. 11-14) sets forth principles and general duties. Part 3 (s. 15-28) deals with needs assessment and care and rehabilitation plans. Part 4 (s. 29-46) regulates compulsory care and rehabilitation of inmates and former special patients. Part 5 (s. 47-71) provides for status and rights of care recipients. Part 6 (s. 72-94) regulates reviews of conditions and status of care recipients. Part 7 (s. 95-108) makes provision for inspection and inquiries. Part 8 (s. 109-115) deals with authority to take and detain care recipients. Part 9 (s. 116-135) contains procedural provisions. Part 10 (s. 136-139) regulates relationship with other acts; Part 11 (s. 140-150) administration.
