Abstract/Citation: Passed in response to a Supreme Court interpretation, this Act restores the broad scope of coverage and clarifies the application of title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975 (see LS 1967 - USA 1) and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (see LS 1972 - USA 1). It specifies that an institution which receives federal financial assistance is also prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability or age in a programme or activity which does not directly benefit from such assistance.
