| Abstract/Citation: | Authorises a new trade and investment policy for sub-Saharan Africa, expands trade benefits to the countries of the Caribbean Basin, renews the generalised system of preferences, and authorises the trade adjustment assistance programmes. Section 104 sets forth eligibility requirements, which include the protection of internationally recognised worker rights. Furthermore, Section 211, which contains temporary provisions to provide additional trade benefits to certain beneficiary countries, makes benefits contingent on the protection of internationally recognised workers rights (right of association, right to organise and bargain collectively, prohibition of forced or compulsory labour, and minimum age for the employment of children). |
