Second Region

Establishes the criminal code of Iraq. Part One sets basic penalties for offences. These are death, life imprisonment, imprisonment for specific periods, penal servitude, detention, fines, confinement to a centre for young offenders and confinement to a reformatory. Book Two governs crimes injurious to the public interest. Chapter One establishes crimes against the external security of the state and sets penalties for each crime. Chapter Two sets offences against internal security. Chapter Three governs crimes against authority. Part One regulates crimes affecting constituted bodies. Part Five governs crimes affecting the national economy or the financial standing of the state. Chapter Six prohibits public servants form accepting bribes. Part Eight prohibits begging.
