Abstract/Citation: Provides for policing in Northern Ireland. Establishes the Police Authority for Northern Ireland. Sets its functions and powers. Grants the Secretary of State with the power to transfer staff to employment of the Police Authority. States police objectives, performance targets and plans. Governs the appointment and removal of senior and other officers of the Royal Ulster Constabulary. Establishes the liability for wrongful acts of constables. Regulates police representative institutions. Regulates annual reports of the Police Authority. Makes regulations in relation to police complaints and disciplinary proceedings. Makes supplementary and transitory provisions.
