Abstract/Citation: Substantially amends the Industrial and Labour Relations Act, 1993. Replaces and expands s. 5 which provides for the right to join a trade union and perform union-related activities, and protection from dismissal due to participation in trade union activities. Also repeals and replaces, inter alia, ss. 7 and 9 (trade union registration and application to register as a trade union); s. 11 (trade union constitutions); s. 17 (right of a trade union to join a trade union federation); s. 20 (process against officers of trade unions where there is reasonable cause to believe that there has been a misuse of funds). Also repeals and replaces s. 40 (application for registration of employers' organizations); s. 42 (constitutions of employers' organizations); s. 66 (collective bargaining); and s. 78 (effect of a strike or lock-out on collective agreements).
