Abstract/Citation: | Article 9 prohibits forced labour, but shall not apply to: a) work ordered in accordance with the law to persons serving a prison term; b) military service; c) service required on the basis of law in cases of natural disasters; and d) action ordered by law to protect the life, health, or rights of others. In Chapter IV, provides for economic and social rights. States that everybody has the right to choose freely his or her profession and the training for such a profession, to associate freely with others for the protection of his or her economic and social interests. Trade unions shall be established independently of the State. Guarantees the right to strike. Provides that women, adolescents and disabled persons are entitled to increased protection of their health at work and to special working conditions. |
