Abstract/Citation: Amends the Merchant Shipping Act, 1951, Marine Traffic Act, 1981, Prevention and Combatting of Pollution of the Sea by Oil Act, 1981, Carriage of Goods by Sea Act, 1986, International Convention Relating to Intervention on the High Seas in Cases of Oil Pollution Casualties Act, 1987, and the Maritime Zones Act, 1994. Inter alia, the amendments regard reporting of accidents and casualties, powers of investigation and detention of ships in case of occupational accident, and safety zones around oil rigs.
