Second Region

Part II deals with rights, freedoms and responsibilities. It provides for equality between men and women (section 25) and equality of persons irrespective of their race, nationality, religion, sex, origin, property status, social position, convictions, political party, trade union and social unity affiliation. Section 35 provides for free choice of employment, the right to unemployment benefits, the right to work under safe and healthy conditions and to receive no less than the minimum wage. It also bans forced labour (except during a state of emergency or martial law, on the basis of a court decision). Section 36 provides for the right to strike that can only be limited in cases specified by law. Section 37 guarantees at least 21 days of annual paid leave to employees working 8 hours a day. Section 38 deals with the right to social security (old age, sickness, disability, unemployment benefits).
