Abstract/Citation: |
Ensures the portability of health benefits when employees change or lose their jobs. Restricts the possibility that a person may be denied health insurance because of a pre-existing condition, and requires insurance companies to sell coverage to small employer groups and to individuals who lose group coverage without regard to their health risk status. Other measures include an increase in tax deductibility of health insurance premiums, an expansion of federal authority in combatting insurance fraud, and the establishment of consumer protection standards for certain long-term care insurance policies. |
