Abstract/Citation: In the area of employment, the aim shall be to create conditions for reconciling the family and professional obligations of both parents, mainly through arrangement of working time. General principles also provide, inter alia, for a general children's allowance, special assistance for invalid children, maternity benefits and accessibility to primary health care. With regard to maternity leave and leave for the care of a child, it is laid down by law as one year, and the compensation amounts to 100 per cent of the previous wage. The mother is entitled to this for 105 days and both parents thereafter (alternatively). Available in English.
