Abstract/Citation: | The Act is divided into four parts and seven schedules. Part I establishes the Occupational Pensions Regulatory Authority, which has the power to appoint and suspend trustees, wind up pensions schemes, inspect schemes and publish reports. Part II regulates State Pension schemes. It amends the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992, affecting, inter alia, the enhancement of additional pension where family credit or disability allowance is paid. Part III establishes new certification requirements for pension schemes. Part IV makes miscellaneuous amendments to the Pension Scheme Act 1993, affecting, inter alia, the jurisdiction of the Pensions Ombudsman and levies towards meeting certain costs and grants. Schedule 1 regulates the Occupational Pensions Regulatory Authority, Schedule 2 the Pensions Compensation Board. Schedule 3 lists amendments consequential to Part I. Schedule 4 regulates pensionable ages for men and women. Schedule 5 lists amendments relating to Part III, Schedule 6 lists general minor and consequential amendments, and Schedule 7 lists texts repealed by the Act. |
