Abstract/Citation: The objectives of the Institute established under the Agreement, with headquarters in Arusha, are to improve the performance and management effectiveness of public and private institutions and enterprises within the member States (open to designated countries of Eastern and Southern Africa). Its principal functions are training, research, documentation, consultancy and development of new management techniques. The Agreement is given force of law in Tanzania by the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute Act 1987 (No. 3).
