Abstract/Citation: Provides for the payment of Health and Safety Benefit, which is a social insurance payment, to a woman who: (a) is pregnant, has recently given birth or is breastfeeding; (b) has been awarded health and safety leave under section 18 of the Maternity Protection Act, 1994 and (c) satisfies the contribution conditions (i.e. has at least 13 paid contributions in the 12 months before the expected or actual date of confinement, or has at least 39 paid contributions since first becoming insured and at least 39 paid or credited contributions in the governing contribution year and has average earnings of not less than the prescribed amount).
