Abstract/Citation: The Decision (PER-04/MEN/84) is intended to simplify the process of applying for and granting work permits to foreigners, and provides that, in accordance with the Decree of the People's Consultative Assembly No. II/MPR/1983 on the Basic Policy of the State, the acceptance of foreign workers is closely related to the continued need for foreign capital investments and transfer of technology. The process of Indonesialization is stated to continue with a view to establishing a balance. The decision further declares that illegal immigrants and foreigners in violation of current rules will be prosecuted.
