Abstract/Citation: | The purpose of the Act is to control immigration as well as the residence as the residence and activities of foreigners in Indonesia, to create awareness of negative impacts of international migration in view of national stability and security and public order. The measures of control regulated include, inter alia, data collection on foreigners at entry and exit from Indonesia, and on their stays in hotels, and requires every foreigner residing more than ninety days in Indonesia to register with the local authorities. Decisions regarding immigration must be rendered within seven days and can be appealed to the Minister of Manpower. Foreigners may be placed in "Immigration Quarantines" if they are illegal residents, pending deportation or appeals. |
