Abstract/Citation: This Act contains the Working Time Act as well as several amendments of other Acts. The Hours of Work Act states the general rule that daily hours of work may not exceed 8 hours, and can only under certain circumstances be extended to 10 hours. Rest periods must be at least 30 minutes per day. After the end of daily hours of work there must be a rest period of at least 11 hours. There are special provisions for night workers and for dangerous work. On Sundays and on Bank Holidays employees may not work except in specific circumstances. Exceptions are possible for temporary work during emergencies.
