The Canada Labour Code - Part II sets minimum labour standards for purposes of establishing conditions at the workplace that are fair and comparable to the levels achieved by the majority of enterprises in federal jurisdiction. The Code standards include hours of work, minimum wages, vacation and general holidays, bereavement and sick leave, leave for child care responsibility, individual and group termination, unjust dismissal and sexual harassment. The Canada Labour Standards Regulations, which give effect to a number of the Code Standards, are amended to update the regulations, streamline procedures, clarify discrepancies between the English and French versions and incorporate references consequential to the 1985 Revised Statutes.
