Abstract/Citation: An Act amending the Merchant Shipping Act of 1991. It excludes the former territory of South West Africa, now Namibia, from coverage of the Act; it makes new arrangements in connection with the disposal of the property of deceased seamen; it makes further safety requirements for ships; it makes further reporting requirements in case of accidents on ships; it extends certain judicial powers in relation to ship-board accidents; it provides for the appointment of various safety authorities; etc.
