Second Region

The Act creates a National Commission for Women; it specifies terms of office and conditions of service for Commission members; and it describes the duties of the Commission. These duties include, inter alia, reviewing existing statutory protection of women; preparing periodic reports to the Central Government on matters relating to safeguards for women's rights; investigating complaints relating to the deprivation of these rights; and assisting financially in litigation on issues affecting a large body of women.
