Abstract/Citation: | An Act to prohibit the engagement of children in certain employments and to regulate the conditions of work for children in certain other employments. It applies to children under the age of fourteen years. It prohibits their employment in several listed trades, including work connected to railroads and ports. Within trades where children may work, the Act fixes the hours of work, forbids night work, provides for a weekly day of rest, and specifies basic health and safety requirements. The Schedule to the Act sets out the processes and occupations in which it is forbidden to employ children under the age of 14 years. This list is periodically amended by the Child Labour Technical Advisory Committee.
