Abstract/Citation: The Act establishes a Board that is to oversee the recycling of ships and ensure that the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships, 2009 as well as other international conventions are being applied. They may issue guidelines on the implementation of these at the national level.
Ships are to be recycled and broken down only in permitted zones as set out by the competent authorities. All employers must provide workers with adequate life insurance policies in accordance with national laws and the Labour Act, 2006.
