Abstract This paper is part of a series exploring possibilities to extend maternity protection to women in the informal economy through micro-insurance and other community-based health-financing schemes. Initial exploratory research has been carried out, which looks into how these community- based initiatives have integrated maternity protection within their offered services to their members and their families.
