  ACUTE HAZARDS PREVENTION FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE & EXPLOSION Combustible. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.  Finely dispersed particles form explosive mixtures in air.  NO open flames. NO contact with incompatible substances. See Chemical Dangers.  Do NOT expose to friction or shock.  Use water spray, foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide.  In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water. Combat fire from a sheltered position.

PREVENT DISPERSION OF DUST! AVOID ALL CONTACT! FIRST AID: USE PERSONAL PROTECTION.
  SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID
Inhalation Blue lips, fingernails and skin. Dizziness. Headache. Laboured breathing. Nausea. Vomiting. Blurred vision.  Use local exhaust or breathing protection.  Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration may be needed. Refer for medical attention.
Skin MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness. Pain. Further see Inhalation.  Protective gloves. Protective clothing.  Wear protective gloves when administering first aid. Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Refer immediately for medical attention .
Eyes Redness. Pain.  Wear face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.  First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then refer for medical attention.
Ingestion Abdominal pain. Further see Inhalation.  Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.  Rinse mouth. Give one or two glasses of water to drink. Do NOT induce vomiting. Refer for medical attention .

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL CLASSIFICATION & LABELLING
Personal protection: chemical protection suit including self-contained breathing apparatus. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. Vacuum with specialist equipment (See Notes) or carefully sweep into sealable containers. If appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder. Then store and dispose of according to local regulations.

1-CHLORO-2,4-DINITROBENZENE ICSC: 0416
PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL INFORMATION

Physical State; Appearance
PALE YELLOW CRYSTALS WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

Physical dangers

Chemical dangers
May decompose explosively on shock, friction or concussion. May explode on heating even in the absence of air. Reacts with strong oxidants and strong bases. Reacts violently with ammonia and strong reducing agents. This generates fire and explosion hazard. On combustion, forms toxic and corrosive gases and fumes including hydrogen chloride and nitrogen oxides.

EXPOSURE & HEALTH EFFECTS

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body through the skin and by ingestion.

Effects of short-term exposure
The substance is severely irritating to the skin and eyes. The substance may cause effects on the blood. This may result in the formation of methaemoglobin. Exposure to high concentrations could cause death.

Inhalation risk
No indication can be given about the rate at which a harmful concentration of this substance in the air is reached on evaporation at 20°C.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization. The substance may have effects on the blood. This may result in a decrease in haemoglobin and a decrease of blood cells.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS
MAK sensitization of skin (SH)

ENVIRONMENT
The substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms. The substance may cause long-term effects in the aquatic environment. It is strongly advised not to let the chemical enter into the environment.

NOTES
NEVER use a domestic-type vacuum cleaner to vacuum the substance, only use specialist equipment.
