  ACUTE HAZARDS PREVENTION FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE & EXPLOSION Not combustible but enhances combustion of other substances. Many reactions may cause fire or explosion. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.    NO contact with flammables.    In case of fire in the surroundings, use appropriate extinguishing media.

 STRICT HYGIENE!
  SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID
Inhalation Cough. Wheezing. Laboured breathing. Symptoms may be delayed. See Notes.  Use ventilation (not if powder), local exhaust or breathing protection.  Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Artificial respiration may be needed. Refer for medical attention.
Skin Redness. Pain.  Protective gloves. Protective clothing.  First rinse with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, then remove contaminated clothes and rinse again.
Eyes Watering of the eyes. Redness. Pain.  Wear face shield or eye protection in combination with breathing protection.  First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then refer for medical attention.
Ingestion Abdominal pain. Diarrhoea. Nausea. Vomiting.  Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.  Rinse mouth. Give one or two glasses of water to drink. Refer for medical attention .

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL CLASSIFICATION & LABELLING
Personal protection: filter respirator for inorganic gases and vapours adapted to the airborne concentration of the substance. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment. Do NOT absorb in saw-dust or other combustible absorbents. Sweep spilled substance into covered sealable containers. If appropriate, moisten first to prevent dusting. Carefully collect remainder. Then store and dispose of according to local regulations.

According to UN GHS Criteria

Transportation
UN Classification
UN Hazard Class: 8; UN Subsidiary Risks: 6.1; UN Pack Group: III

STORAGE
Separated from incompatible materials. See Chemical Dangers. Well closed. Ventilation along the floor.

PHYSICAL & CHEMICAL INFORMATION

Physical State; Appearance
BLUISH BLACK OR DARK PURPLE CRYSTALS WITH PUNGENT ODOUR.

Physical dangers
The substance readily sublimes.

Chemical dangers
Decomposes on heating. This produces toxic fumes. The substance is a strong oxidant. It reacts with combustible and reducing materials. Reacts violently with metal powders, antimony, ammonia, acetaldehyde and acetylene. This generates fire and explosion hazard.

EXPOSURE & HEALTH EFFECTS

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour, through the skin and by ingestion.

Effects of short-term exposure
Lachrymation. The substance is severely irritating to the eyes and respiratory tract. The substance is irritating to the skin. Inhalation of the vapour may cause asthma-like reactions (RADS). Inhalation of the vapour may cause lung oedema. See Notes. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated.

Inhalation risk
A harmful contamination of the air can be reached rather quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20°C.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization in rare cases. Repeated or prolonged inhalation may cause asthma-like syndrome (RADS). The substance may have effects on the thyroid.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS
TLV: 0.01 ppm as TWA; 0.1 ppm as STEL; A4 (not classifiable as a human carcinogen).
MAK skin absorption (H)

ENVIRONMENT
This substance may be hazardous to the environment. Special attention should be given to fish.

NOTES
The occupational exposure limit value should not be exceeded during any part of the working exposure.
Rinse contaminated clothing with plenty of water because of fire hazard.
The symptoms of lung oedema often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential.
Immediate administration of an appropriate inhalation therapy by a doctor, or by an authorized person, should be considered.
The symptoms of asthma often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential.
