Synthèse This report provides information on micro insurance schemes available to the income-poor and low-income earners. The study found that the evolution of the micro insurance concept stems from the development of widespread implementation of microcredit models as a development strategy for Bangladesh. It argues that the viability of the "credit model" has been constrained by contribution defaults and that micro credit institutions thus needed to complement credit with social security type services.
