Abstract This report is based on a field study and attempts to describe the main features of an ILO-WEEH supported community-based Health Micro Insurance scheme piloted by BRAC. The aim being to provide basic social protection, in the area of health services, for rural poor women working in the informal economy and their families. The report reflects the operation of a voluntary prepaid mechanism to access a package of outpatient and in-patient health care services.
