Abstract
The first phase of the campaign seeks to place the extension of social security at the top of the development agenda in as many countries as possible. National and international policy makers will receive assitance in developing strategies to extend coverage.
Social security is essential for the well-being of people and society. The hope is that the global campaign will contribute to the millenium development goals. Specifically to help reduce infant and maternal mortality as well as to halve, by 2015, the proportion of people whose income is less than one dollar a day.
