In view of the many dangers in the use of circular sawing machines, this directive contains instructions for reducing these dangers and for the prevention of accidents. Attention is given to: definitions; hazards (contact with the rotating tool, kick-back, bursting or loosening of tool, unsafe electrical installation, high noise levels, hazardous substances and vapours); construction (general safety, electrical installation, specific parts and facilities); safety devices; safe operation (operating and maintenance instructions, operator's qualifications, safety guards, tool setting, removal of wood residues); noise control; relevant legal provisions. The instructions given in the directive are based on statutory requirements.

In order to avoid accidents, considerable care has to be taken while working with movable suspended scaffolds. The directions given in this directive are based on Dutch legislation and are in accordance with the state of the art. They include guidelines for the safe construction, use and maintenance of movable suspended scaffolds. Special attention is given to the design of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic parts.

CIS 91-1084 Cranes: inspection and tests [Netherlands]

Under article 141 of the Safety Decree for Factories and Workshops 1938 (V.B.F.), cranes with a safe working load of two tons and above have to be examined and tested for reliability and safe operation. These tests have to be carried out by an expert, before first use and periodically. This directive (revision of CIS 85-307) contains information about the safety rules required by law.
