New version of the Ordinance concerning hazardous substances (effective 25 Sept. 1991). Main provisions include: packing, classification and labelling of dangerous and carcinogenic substances and preparations; prohibition of use of specific substances, preparations and products; safety measures and checks; personal protective equipment. English translation of the 1986 Ordinance (see CIS 86-1911), as modified on 16 Dec. 1987. It covers the sale, use and storage of dangerous (toxic, corrosive, irritant, explosive, oxidant, flammable, carcinogenic , mutagenic, teratogenic) substances and preparations in the working environment and in the environment in general. Chapters of the Ordinance deal with: (1) its object; (2) sale; (3) use (periodic medical examination of workers); (4) penalties (under various laws, including the 1980 law on chemical substances; (5) general provisions (oversight committees, entry into force). In annexes: classification and labelling; use of carcinogens, mutagens and teratogens; use of substances with chronic effects; provisions covering flammable and explosive substances; list of periodic medical examinations; list of substances and preparations.

This publication brings together the texts of the Ordinance of 26 August 1986 concerning hazardous substances with 6 Supplements (original Ordinance: CIS 86-1911; Supplement I: CIS 87-375; Supplement II: CIS 87-376). The Ordinance covers the sale, use and storage of toxic, corrosive, irritant, explosive, oxidant, flammable, carcinogenic, mutagenic or teratogenic substances and preparations in the working environment and in the environment in general. Supplements: classification and labelling; carcinogens, mutagens and teratogens; substances with chronic effects; flammable and explosive substances; timing of medical examinations in case of exposure to certain substances; list of 1492 substances and preparations. Amendments bringing the provision of the Ordinance into conformity with European Community directives have been incorporated.

The ordinance covers the sale, use and storage of toxic, corrosive, irritant, explosive, oxidant, flammable, carcinogenic, mutagenic or teratogenic substances or preparations in the working environment and in the environment in general. Appendix II: special regulations for the handling of carcinogenic, teratogenic and mutagenic substances; Appendix III: special provisions for very toxic, toxic, harmful, corrosive or irritant substances or substances with any other chronic effect on man; Appendix IV: special provisions for oxidants and flammable or explosive substances; Appendix V: list of preventive medical examinations. Appendix I, dealing with classification and labelling, and Appendix VI, listing classified substances and preparations, are not included.
