The Regulation on work with asbestos (see CIS 85-1566) became effective in 1984. The data registry forms specified in this Order are needed for environmental and medical surveillance of workers potentially exposed to asbestos.

CIS 85-1566 Reglamento sobre trabajos con riesgo de amianto
Complete text of the order published in the "Boletín Oficial del Estado" (Spain) of 7 Nov. 1984 regarding the prevention of health risks to workers exposed to asbestos. Asbestos fibres are defined as fibres longer than 5µm, with a diameter below 3µm and a length/diameter ratio >3. A worker will be considered to be exposed if the asbestos fibre concentration in his working environment exceeds 0.25 fibre/cm3 of air (TWA for an 8h work-day and a 40h work-week) or if the accumulated total dose over a 3-month period exceeds 15 fibres-day/cm3. The exposure limit is 1 fibre/cm3. The use of crocidolite is prohibited. The contents of this order conform on the whole to the 19 Sep. 1983 CEC directive on asbestos.
