These directives are based on the Finnish Order of 16 Aug. 1973 concerning presses and their inspection. Summary: responsibility of the manufacturer, dealer, installer, employer and worker; definitions; approval and acceptance tests; design; clutch and brakes; control system; down time; noise and vibration control; operation and maintenance; prevention of hand injuries (enclosed dies, feed attachments, moving guards, two-hand controls, photoelectric guards); periodical checks; toolsetting; worker information. Annexes; rules for electronic guards designed to protect operators and to initiate the ram stroke; the text of the Order is given.
