Resumen This notice announces the initiation of the rulemaking process and requests information relevant to reducing occupational exposure to hepatitis B virus (HBV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV or AIDS virus) under section 6 (B) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, 29, U.S.C. 655. It briefly summarises the ongoing activities in this area and describes the information available to OSHA concerning HBV and HIV infections, existing guidelines for worker protection and risk estimates. The notice also invites interested parties to submit data, comments and other pertinent information regarding OSHA's development of a proposed standard for occupational exposure to HBV and HIV.
