Types of protection are outlined for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, with a comprehensive list of references to British standards on this subject: types of protection (type o - oil immersion, BS5501:Part 2 EN 50 015; type p - pressurised apparatus, BS5501:Part 3 EN 50 016; type q - powder filling (BS5501:Part 4 EN 50 017); type d - flameproof enclosure (BS5501-Part 5 EN 50 018); type e - increased safety (BS5501:Part 6 EN 50 019); type i - intrinsic safety (BS5501:Part 7 EN 50 020); type s - special protection (SFA 3009); type N - (BS4483:Part 2).
