| Resumen |
This article discusses the problem of diagnosing the causes of hoarseness, in view of the increasing number of harmful substances and conditions encountered in industry and the increasing frequency of stress on the organs of speech, and emphasises the importance of throat and larynx examinations. It reviews the various clinical forms of hoarseness of occupational origin (absorption of foreign bodies, injury to the larynx, overexertion of the voice, polyps and malignant tumours, laryngitis), mentions the agents and activities involved, and refers to allergic factors.
