Title VDU-screen filters: Remedy or the ubiquitous Hawthorne effect?
Bibliographic information Feb. 2001, Vol.27, No.2, p.107-118. Illus. 34 ref.
Abstract Health hazards attributed in office work to exposure to electrical fields surrounding CRT displays units were investigated without confirming the assumed protection given by screen filters. The results appear to be explained by other facts influencing employees e.g. subject reactivity, known also as the Hawthorne effect (improvement is due to psychological factors related to the subject's awareness that he/she is participating in an experiment).
