Abstract Demeton is an insecticide. It is a cholinesterase inhibitor. Inhalation first causes effects on the eyes (blurred vision, running eyes, pain) and respiratory symptoms, followed by gastrointestinal effects. Effects can be immediate or delayed. Dermal absorption induces sweating and dermatitis. Overexposure can affect the central nervous system and the heart. Recommendations include the use of eye and respiratory protection, as well as the medical supervision of exposed workers. OSHA permissible exposure level: 0.1mg/m3.
