Abstract This document provides a series of fact sheets describing projects carried out as part of a national safety and health programme in the US construction industry. Projects include: hearing conservation programmes; ergonomic hazard evaluations; identification and control of hazardous substances (lead, asphalt fume, asbestos substitutes, silica); respiratory health hazards caused by toxic dusts; information services; surveillance studies of trades within the construction industry; musculoskeletal disorders; safety and health training. A summary of each project is provided along with prevention activities.
