Abstract Only very limited information is available on the effects of diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) on humans. Mild gastric disturbances were reported in two subjects given 5 or 10g of the substance. There have been a few studies on workers exposed to phthalate mixtures, but no consistent health effects that could be directly related to DEHP have been reported. There is not sufficient evidence to suggest that DEHP is a potential human carcinogen. Detailed summaries in French and Spanish.
