Abstract In Germany the standards VDE 0100 Part 720/3.83 as well as Part 705/11.71 and VDE 0165/9.83 address the design of flame safety lamps for workshops and agricultural facilities where flammable dusts and chemical substances are present. The most important requirements of these standards are outlined. For example, no hot component may fall off from lamps. Temperatures at the lamp surface may not exceed 95°C.
