Abstract The Regulations came into force on 1 July 1982. They place a duty on employers to ensure adequate first-aid provision for their employees in the workplace. Contents of the Code of Practice: duty of the employer to make provision for first-aid and to inform employees of the arrangements; first-aid facilities, boxes and kits; provision of a suitably-equipped and staffed first-aid room; recording of first-aid treatment; recruitment, training and qualification of first-aiders. Addresses of regional employment nursing advisers are given as well as some general first-aid guidance for inclusion in first-aid boxes.
