Abstract This fact sheet, prepared at the request of a member of the US Congress, identifies US federal agencies that provide training for first-responders to incidents involving hazardous materials, and provides details of the nature of the training. Following a description of the scope and methodology of the study, section 2 of the report describes the nature and size of the state and local emergency response community, the type of training offered overall, federal expenditure and the demand for such training. Section 3 provides more specific information on an agency-by agency basis, including an overview of training activities, expenditure and course attendance data.
