Abstract The environment (water, air) of workers working in a pressurised atmosphere may be polluted by gases such as CO and nitrogen oxides, dust and radioactive substances such as radon. These pollutants can also be present in the air supplied to divers. In tunnelling and caisson work, noise and heat exposure can also occur. Safety measures include air cleaning and the wearing of protective equipment.
