Abstract The classes of chemicals evaluated are: crude oil, gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuels and fuel oils (heating fuels). Occupational exposures in petroleum refining have been classified as probably carcinogenic to humans (2A). The degree of evidence for carcinogenicity of gasoline diesel fuels and fuel oils is inadequate or limited (2B), and that of crude oil, jet fuels and light fuel oils is inadequate (3).
