Abstract |
This standard (effective 1 July 1986) covers all personal respiratory protective equipment in use in the USSR with the exception of that used in rescue, fire-fighting and special work, and establishes classification and marking criteria. According to the classification, all personal respiratory protective devices are divided into 7 groups on the basis of the following principles: operation (filter-type respirators and self-contained breathing apparatus), purpose (protection against gas, dust or both), effectiveness of protection (3 grades of protection), methods of supply with air (without forced air supply, from central air lines, from compressed air lines, from blowers), design (self-contained and air-line respirators), source of the breathing mixture in the case of self-contained equipment (pressurised reservoir, chemical generation of oxygen), design of facepieces (mouthpiece, half-mask, mask, helmet-mask, helmet). Terms and definitions used in the standard are appended. |
