Abstract This standard (effective 1 July 1985) covers all protective clothing, foot, leg, hand and arm protection and defines a method to determine their resistance to penetration by microorganisms. The method is based on the comparison of the number of microbe colonies that penetrate and grow on material samples with the number of those that grow on control plates. The method is used for the design and development of protective clothing, foot, leg, arm and hand protection, new fabrics and materials. Contents: methods of sampling, test equipment, materials and reagents, preparation for testing and testing; processing of results, safety requirements. A description of how to prepare a microbial solution for testing is appended.
